Terms and conditions
The rules for using the platform and booking games.
1. Who contracts with whom
A booking creates a contract between the player and the operator of the escape room. Escape Beacon arranges the booking and is not the provider of the game. There are currently no payments through the platform — you pay the operator for the game according to their rules. If we introduced payments, that would be a change to these terms, announced in advance.
2. Price
Prices include tax and are stated in the operator's currency. For games whose price list we have not verified, the price published by the operator applies.
3. Cancellation
An escape room is a leisure service provided on a specific date. Such services carry no 14-day right of withdrawal (Section 1837 of the Czech Civil Code, which implements Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU; comparable rules apply across the EU). Cancellation is therefore governed by the operator's cancellation terms.
If the operator has given us their cancellation terms, we show them with the game before you confirm the booking. If we do not have them, the terms published by the operator apply — you will find the link to their website and their contact details with every game and in the confirmation. We do not state cancellation terms we have not verified, and we do not invent them on the operator's behalf.
Booking through us is always free of charge — we charge nothing for the cancellation itself. What the operator charges follows from their cancellation terms.
4. Complaints
Complaints about how the game was run are handled by the operator. If the problem concerns the booking or a payment through the platform, we deal with it.
We accept complaints by e-mail. We confirm receipt and settle them within 30 days at the latest, as consumer law requires; if we miss that deadline, you have the same rights as if we had rejected the complaint.
5. What we are responsible for and what we are not
We are responsible for the platform working — for arranging the booking, confirming it, and for the accuracy of the data we have taken over from the operator. The operator providing the game is responsible for how the game is run, the condition of the room, and keeping the booked time.
Data about games whose profile the operator has not yet claimed comes from public sources and is checked by us; even so, it can change without our knowing. For such games, prices and times are indicative and the operator's own information prevails.
With some games you will see the label "Details confirmed by the venue" with a date. It means exactly what it says: the details were confirmed by whoever runs the game, on that date. It is not our verification and not our rating of the game — we have not played it. The label has no effect on the order of results and cannot be bought. An older confirmation stays visible with its original date, so you can see how recent it is.
6. Reviews
A review may be published by a signed-in player who has marked the game as played, one per game. Whoever wrote the review is responsible for its content.
Verification. We label the review of a player who booked through us and whose booking the operator confirmed with "verified booking" — for that player we know they were really there. Other reviews are the player's own statement, and this is noted with them. We do not order or write reviews, and we publish none that does not come from the genuine user of the account.
We do not hide negative reviews or push them to the back. We hide a review only if it is unlawful, unrelated to the game, discloses personal data, or is a duplicate; we record the reason.
A review is public, including the name you choose yourself — do not write anything in it you would not want made public. The operator may reply to it publicly. You can change or delete your review at any time; deleting your account removes them all.
Private notes and ratings in the Escape Passport are not reviews — we do not publish them and do not pass them to anyone.
7. Account and Escape Passport
An account is free and not required. A game can be booked without one. The account exists for the Escape Passport: marking games as played, private notes and ratings, the "Want to go" list, and the option to write a public review.
There is no paid version for players and we are not planning one. Everything described here is and stays free.
Signing in without a password. You have no password with us. We send a one-time code to the e-mail address you give, valid for 15 minutes. Enter the code yourself only — whoever receives it gets into your account. You stay signed in for six months or until you sign out.
One account per person. Accounts created in bulk or on other people's addresses are abuse and we may delete them.
Deleting your account. You delete the account yourself with one button in the Passport, immediately and without giving a reason. Everything goes with it: games played, notes, ratings and your public reviews. Only bookings remain, and only for as long as claims can arise from them — more in the Privacy notice.
When we delete an account. We do so only in cases of abuse — reviews written for money or on someone else's behalf, bulk account creation, or attempts to disrupt the service. We warn you beforehand where the circumstances allow, and on request we tell you the reason.
